community testing

Adopt a bottom up approach to testing at a local community level (area the size of a secondary school catchment ) with % of community tested weekly and responsibility for what is open locally reliant on test results being below a certain threshold. Track and trace contacts to positive tests using community too.

Why the contribution is important

Will get on top of cases quicker and be more responsive.

I feel if the lockdown is to continue, why cant employees of the local council who are not in a position to do their existing job be redeployed to help with testing. This would help increase the daily testing and also get people isolating due to symptoms back to work sooner.

I like this idea and comment as it will also establish the level of infection within the community outwth hospitals- a statistic which seems to have been lacking .
I know that reported testing has been problematic -but without hard data on who has / or had it then re opening anything will incur a bigger amount of guestimation into any further cases/impact on NHS resource etc?
