COVID-19 in perspective

Completely lift lockdown, and allow the country to get back to normality.
We have Sweden (who the WHO have actually flip-flopped on, now confirming they are the model that we should follow).
People can choose to wear a mask, choose to socially distance, choose to isolate or choose to do anything, as would be expected in a free country.
But others, basing their decisions on logic, and the below study and/or thousands like it, should be allowed to be free, in a free country, and live their lives.

There was an interesting question posed:
"Do you ever sit back and wonder how many people you have passed the flu onto in the last 10 years, who have then died?
No?
Either have I.
Please stop the manipulative guilt played out in the media."

This explains the situation extremely well.

The longer we stay in lockdown of any form, the longer you are dragging this crisis out for.
The SOLE purpose of lockdown was to protect the NHS, and we haven't only done that, but in fact, it is hugely underused.
They have now shut the Nightingale hospital in London, after only 40 admissions in total. And the SECC here in Scotland was surplus to requirements.
And the hundreds of thousands of ventilators we've spent hundreds of millions on, are now being cancelled as they are not required.

The virus has already spread vastly throughout the country.
But this is good news, and that is why we are now on the decline.

Please lift lockdown measures, and allow the virus to pass us by so we can move on with our lives, the economy and protect the TRUELY VULNERABLE people of the world.

Why the contribution is important

Release notes – COVID-19 - datasheet:
This is not designed to upset or offend, but instead hopefully give a general view on the current situation, and perhaps put things into some kind of perspective. It uses data released by governments around the world, and simply analyses what this data tells us. It is hoped this may ease some people’s fear and may be of interest to others.
Covid-19 statistics:
Deaths from Covid-19(worldwide, up to 3rd May 2020) = 244,988
Deaths from Flu = Between 290,000-600,000 each year. (This is with a vaccine & almost 50% of the worlds population getting that vaccine)
Deaths from Starvation PRIOR to Covid-19 = 25,000 per day(250,000 deaths every 10days. ie more people die of starvation every 10 days, than the amount from COVID-19 in TOTAL, to date)
Lockdown costs the UK £2.4 BILLION per day
Worldwide cost of lockdown to date = Circa £7 TRILLION.
Cost to TOTALLY eradicate world hunger = £6 Billion - £265 Billion
We are spending £7 Trillion on a disease that has killed a total of less than 250,000 worldwide, yet we cannot find a tiny fraction of that amount to eradicate world hunger, causing over 9 millions deaths EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.
As humanity, this is unexplainable. It seems we are valuing certain peoples’ lives, over others.
So are we really protecting the most vulnerable people?
Lockdowns are causing an ADDITIONAL 75,000-225,000 deaths per DAY. (This is on top of the 25,000 that die every day of starvation). So lockdown, in itself, is causing up to as many deaths per DAY, as the TOTAL deaths caused by Covid-19, since inception.
Circa 90% of deaths from Covid-19 are in over 65’s. The deaths from starvation are from men & woman, children and babies. This is not to trivialise any deaths, but the vast majority of COVID-19 deaths are coming from the elderly with underlying conditions, where life expectancy is short(ie. In the UK, life expectancy in a care home is less than 18 months).
How this matters? Studies now show a huge proportion of the deaths from COVID-19 are in people who did not have long to live. It is very likely the deaths in the second half of the year will be lower than the normal baseline, as the deaths expected in that time period will have essentially been brought forward in time, by months.
Countries who have stopped the spread of the virus very early, ie Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, etc are going to face a struggle coming out of lockdown, as cases and deaths will inevitably spike, as they will be in exactly the same situation we were in 6-7 weeks ago. This is common-sense, and this has already been seen in for example Hokkaido(Japan), which was hailed a success story, only to see a massive second wave, because lockdown was “successful” the first time around. Again, this is common sense. We published a report saying exactly this, 6 weeks ago.
The death rate from COVID-19, seems on target to be well under 0.1% of total populations. Not the 5-6% media and governments initially quoted.
And the death rate for the subset of anyone under the age of 65 = well under 0.01% (extremely low in comparison to many other everyday issues – see attached doc)
Has lockdown worked in the UK?:
Testing is providing results showing around 30-40% of the UK’s population have been infected with COVID-19. (see attached document for this detailed breakdown)
This is excellent news. This means the virus(despite lockdowns) has travelled through the population, and therefor has a very very low death rate.
It also accounts for the sharp rise, peak and now daily reduction in deaths, and the decline we are now on.
What is not so excellent news, is the effects this lockdown has hade on peoples’ lives, and the havoc it will wreak on life going forward.
For many of us, in nice houses, with nice cars; a nice garden & on furlough: it’s a bit boring, but no big deal, right?
But for the poorest in society: living on next to nothing; in a flat on the 25th floor of a high rise; drug use exploding; depression setting in & the future looking extremely bleak. It’s not a good situation. Yet people demean and have hate towards anyone trying to go out into vast area’s(ie nature parks, public parks, and the open environment, ie rivers, etc), and enjoy at least something of their lives at present. Where do you go if you live in the middle of a town or city, on the 25th floor in a block of flats?
Also, given unemployment is going to sky-rocket, with no jobs available. What does the future look like for the poorest in this country? (before even thinking about all the deaths mentioned earlier worldwide in the most vulnerable and poor groups)
Secondary issues:
Spike in mental health disorders
Huge amount of people dying alone and without family & friends around them, due to lockdown rules
Spike in suicides
Huge spike in unemployment
Huge spike in small business going bust
Spike in ill individuals not getting the medical care they have required, and thus will suffer as a result
Fear instilled in the population, and social interactions will be undoubtedly affected
This list is almost inexhaustible…
A Better Strategy?:
Given all the information presented, it appears there was an optimal strategy.
1) Advise lockdown for over 65’s (as between 85-92% of deaths are in this age range)
2) Allow everyone else to carry on as normal
3) Economy will only be slightly adversely affected
4) Over 65’s will be protected as much as possible
5) Over 65’s will also only be housebound and isolated for the shortest amount of time possible (ie 6-8 weeks)
6) Under 65’s will see a death rate incredibly low, around 0.0016% (this is drawn from the fact that ~90% of deaths are in the over 65 age group
7) The poorest people in the world will not continue to die in the hundreds of thousands per day
8) Use a fraction of the money spent on COVID-19 lockdowns, and TOTALLY cure all deaths caused by starvation, throughout the world, saving millions.
This is a strategy very akin to SWEDEN, who are negotiating COVID-19 admirably. They have not had lockdown, but instead kept schools, bars, workplaces & restaurants open. Yes they are using common sense, but a quick check of how busy their cities are, and people going about their lives, show they are operating at perhaps 70-80% of normal. Where we are at perhaps around 10%. And they are performing better than most.
A common attack on Sweden is their population density. However, this is covered in the attached document, and this factor can be negated by numerous comparisons and/or removing their outlying population/land mass to bring the figures exactly in line with, for example, the UK.
-----------
This is a snapshot of some information a group of us have worked tirelessly to collate, and all the sources and data are found in the attached document.
We don’t want to upset or offend anyone, and hopefully this just gives a general overview of things, and puts things into some kind of perspective.

Over 26k dead in only a few weeks, 2nd highest on the planet. This ain't no flu! Are they 'expendable' because they're old? Are you saying we should let people die hideous deaths for a healthier majority? And what about the NHS in all this? Do they put their lives on the line for these people, or put them in an isolation ward to die horribly alone? As for world poverty, destitution and hunger, you simply cannot mix that up in the Covid equation. That means nothing gets done, although I do take your wider point.

I totally agree. Coronavirus is the only illness the government seems to care about. Depression and mental illness will also claim so many lives in this. Let us be adults and decide if we want to put ourselves at "risk" by going for a hair cut, visiting family or meeting friends for a coffee. There is risk 8n everything you do in life we cant be wrapped up in cotton wool forever and a day.

Could not agree more ! Yes there have been a lot of deaths. - Maybe had we protected the elderly more ! The NHS may not have had the time or energy to tik tok dance on videos !
Proportionally we have not had the higher number of deaths either ! Look at the
Population size. How can they be comparable by number ! Are we following the science or the “ math “or counting on our fingers now !
Get the country open and the naysayers back to work !nor we may not have a health service at all shortly !
