D&G let us out!

Dumfries and Galloway currently have less than 5 patients in hospital or ICU. No reason now to keep us so retricted.

Why the contribution is important

A small region to assess relaxation of restrictions.

Why don’t we ease up on the lockdown by streets then?

But how would you police this? D&G is a tourist mecca and if people knew you could move about more in D&G than somewhere else, they would flock there, causing a surge in the virus....with only about 12 icu beds and a predominantly elderly population that's a really risky strategy

If they all come up the motorway from England (through Dumfries and Galloway) following this evening's pronouncements, the numbers will increase again. And 5 in hospital will mean a lot more suffering silently at home, as well as many with minor symptoms or asymptomatic. Not yet time to relax.

Seems like a reasonable idea to relax some but certainly not all the restrictions in that area, monitoring cases and hospitalisations carefully

Easing restrictions by area would only be a good idea if a very extensive programme of testing and tracing were available, community by community, so that there is a very accurate idea of where the virus is, and how prevalent it is around Scotland.

We also live in an area of low cases so I understand your frustration but as Jean has pointed out above, we need track, trace and testing in place before we can consider regional lifting of restrictions.
