Dangerous Driving

Road traffic collisions account for a significant burden on the NHS, which at this time we should be trying to protect. I therefore believe it would be right to massively increase the consequences for dangerous or unsafe driving at this time, including speeding. Paramedics and firefighters will be put at risk of covid for every call out, so reducing the risk of crashes happening will reduce the risk to the emergency services. I think doubling the consequences of committing driving crimes would adequately cover the increased consequences of these crimes at the moment.

In the future I believe we should continue the work we are doing to save lives which would be lost through covid to include other deaths. Too many people die on our roads, so significantly harsher measures for poor quality driving and increases policing could save many lives, and I believe these lives should be saved too.

Why the contribution is important

Protect emergency services and save lives.
