Dentistry

Reopen dentists. There are people who need urgent dentistry. For them there should be better provision than just pulling teeth out. Have special rooms set aside for aerosol generating procedures. Only deal with one such procedure a day. Use better PPE. Test people then put them in iso til the procedure. DO SOMETHING.

Why the contribution is important

Losing teeth is a one way street. They don’t grow back. Once you have lost a tooth that could have been saved your only option is an incredibly expensive implant which may not even be possible. You are completely failing thousands of people who need urgent medical help with their teeth. Just extracting teeth is NOT providing dentistry. The majority of people do not realise this is all you are doing at the moment. The press need to be made aware so that the general population know the truth. You should not only be helping people with covid. They represent a very small minority of the population.

I agree totally on this. I have had a problem tooth for weeks. It comes and goes but it can be fairly bad when it decides. It doesn't meet the requirement for a dental hub referral, but I don't want to be continually taking over the counter painkillers for weeks on end.

Also if the First Minister or any other senior Minister had the same problem tooth as me, what would happen? I think it's a fair question. Not that we will ever get to know.

I think that more urgent dentistry needs to be done, apart from removing teeth. I understand the risks for all involved when visiting dentists at the present time but I think it may be feasible to do more to help people even on a much reduced scale. It would be beneficial to at least look at the possibility of doing so.

Agree with dentists being available, but hard to see how the general multi dentist practices can safely work even with PPE available. Vastly cut down practices for emergency should be possible, with possible mobile units being operated. One way in and one way out the key to opening any practice.

Agree with dentists being made available. We are back in 1950s with this dentistry. Even just for more expanded emergency procedures other than extracting teeth!! People are in discomfort and cant rely on pain killers for weeks/months. Nor is the use of temporary filling kits which as name suggests “temporary” and do not last!
SG is setting population up for possibly more future issues. Appears that SG are solely focussed on COVID19 which FM said herself is “a relatively mild illness for vast majority” and therefore the rest of healthcare is out of window.
