Dog walkers

Dog walkers provide a key support service to people who go out to work. With safeguards in place, it is to be hoped their work can be resumed. Their work can mean one dog walker exercising a number of dogs rather than each dog going out with someone.,

Why the contribution is important

By allowing this service to resume, you restrict numbers of people going out to exercise and support people going back to work,

    Dog daycare facilities are already open and collecting dogs from homes, transporting them together in vehicles and exercising them in groups from different households. Professional dog walkers would operate in the same manner. Dogs would be collected using social distancing and hygiene guidance. Social distancing is already the preferred way of operating as a professional dog walker. Can Scot Gov please advise if we are permitted to operate in this way. If not, please provide reasons, indicating the specific differences which allow daycare facilities to operate.

    As a comment said above commercial day care centres are allowed to collect and transport from different households. So not sure why PDW need to do solo walks only. For some of us that is not a viable business. There is so many dog walkers wanting to get back to work, this will help with not having as much people out and about walking there dogs as we would be doing it can you advise when we will be able to get back to group walking. We of course will take all the proper precautions that are needed.

    As above comments, daycare centres for dogs are open so dogs are mixing and being collected and dropped off from owners homes. This can be done safely by professional dog walkers maintaining social distancing from owners and whilst on walks. It would greatly reduce the number of people out on walks with their own dogs. In my case I would be 1 person out walking dogs instead of my 12 customers.
