Drive to Exexrcise

Allowing travel by car to exercise (say no more than 15 miles/30 minutes) would make sustaining lock down so much easier to bear, providing contact limited to immediate household, no picnicking etc., and strictly for exercise only and social distancing otherwise maintained at all times...

Why the contribution is important

Increasing freedom without risking too much unnecessary social contact

Fully support this as it allows people to access quieter areas which is not the case when you step out your door. Also our sense of well-being is through connection to places and space as well as our immediate locality.

No more than 2 in the car.

This gives people options and will improve mental health. Its hard to find any good reason that this shouldn't be allowed. Social distancing is still maintained. Why limit to 15 miles? If people can go further, its easier to spread out and maintain distancing. Why no picnicking? Its your own food and can be done in isolation.

I think we should be more free to drive to exercise.

I live in central Edinburgh and running at my local park, around my local streets or arthur's seat is getting very boring.

The pentlands regional park is currently closed but running there is better than in town as there are far fewer people! I find social distancing around Edinburgh's parks and roads much more challenging.

I'm sure the car parking in the Pentlands can be managed.

It will create crowding at car parks, entrances etc. we saw this at whiteless wind farm the weekend before "lockdown". Guidance becomes too complicated if we start saying things like, but only if not too many other people already there! or at quiet times etc.

    I agree.

I agree with the comment above about over crowding in rural areas, how would that be managed?
