E-bikes for safe travel

Transport post-COVID is a big problem. Social distancing on public transport is uneconomical. For a better low carbon future we don’t want an escalation of travelling by car. During lockdown, many have taken to cycling. The cycle to work scheme is limited to £1000. Raise the limit for those with longer travelling distances so they can afford an e-bike. £200 per mile on top of the £1000 cap would do it.

Why the contribution is important

We need the exit strategy to be to a healthier greener future not a return to the past. Incentivise e-cars and e-bikes, discount car licenses and road tax (one only per household) for low annual mileage as well as low carbon emissions.

I could not agree more with this idea. I recently bought an ebike and it is life-changing. I cycled 26 miles on trip 1 with ease. They are perfect for commuting to work if it weren't for all the cars on the road.
