I'm am becoming increasingly concerned about my daughter's education as she is currently transitioning into her senior phase, starting her Nat 5 course work. The distance learning at her school by no way seem up to speed even after all these weeks, she is lucky if she has two periods of course work on any given day, as opposed to the 7 she would have in a normal school day. I'm losing patience with this as I feel theres really no reason why the teachers ad school should not be more up to speed with delivering lessons remotely. Especially when business and universities and private schools don't seem to have issues like this 7 weeks down the line.

I fear for the next wave of exams I think the young people will be at a huge disadvantage if this continues, which will knock on effect into their further education.

I think there needs to be a drive to get senior phase pupils, exam age pupils, back into a class room as soon as possible, at least part time. Unless huge concessions are going to be made with their exams next year too. It's simply not fair.

I think a more flexible approach needs to be given to the school day, to allow smaller groups to be managed and pupils to be given at least some contact with the class teachers. For example pupils could attend a much shorter school day, say have 3 periods of school, in school, no break time or lunch time to be held in school where large groups would congregate and then home to follow up the rest of the school day, with another small group then attending a 3 period school day and then home.

I would suggest shorter school days, rotating pupils in a social distanced class environment through out a school day which would at least give opportunity for much needed teacher contact. I feel that senior phase particularly need this.

Why the contribution is important

For the future success of our current senior phase children, who have exams next year and plans to enter further education. They are currently at a disadvantage and this will have a huge know on effect to the education going forward.
