Even being able to exercise less than 40 miles from your home? Definitely being able to go somewhere different will be beneficial to peoples mental health. When sage to do so of course with social distancing still in place.

This is a great idea in principle however 40 miles is very far. 20 miles would be more appropriate as there are green spaces in most areas of Scotland and should be reachable within 20 miles.

Already being done by quite a number of people in my area. Cyclists even have the cheek to shout across a road checking directions to areas well out with where they are already. Locals are driving to areas for hill walking. 40 miles would be good for me though, I could be in a family bubble.

Scotland is a lovely country and we would all benefit from seeing a bit of different scenery 20 - 30 miles would be magic

Cyclists already doing this yet I can’t because my mode of exercise is walking hills!
    Has to change.

Agreed. Re-open the closed parking and allow access to open public spaces. It's easier to social distance in a 100sq mile national park than in my densely populated, urban local area. Zero logic in closing outdoor spaces and goes against the NPCC guidance on the reading of covid legislation

I am not sure about this one - I am all for exercise but this means that people will try to flood areas to exercise such as small towns on the sea , the islands of Scotland - where I live is an area people love to come too. But I am not sure thousands of people back is a good idea social distancing will end - shops will be full of the “exercise tourist” and at that point lockdown will be a waste of time as more people are sick and our nhs won’t cope

Why only 40 miles. The further away we are from other people the better from a Covid point of view. Scotland has huge areas of wilderness.

40 miles is too far it should be restricted to 10 miles. There is a danger of small tourist villages and seaside destinations becoming overcrowded with people which will make social distancing more difficult.

Allow driving to wild places i.e. mountains, hills, forests for long walks or cycling.

LOW RISK by staying mostly in car between residence and park but ensuring distancing if stops at other areas on the way.

HIGHER RISK if large numbers of people at parking hubs though it should be possible to distance to the 2m or more. May be necessary to limit available parking.

The general principle seems right but the travel distance needs to be restricted to ensure folk stay within their home areas and do not transfer virus into smaller remote communities. 10-15 miles would provide acess for most Scottish residents.

should be limited to one mile
