Expand the time and frequency of outdoor activities

Expand the time and frequency of outdoor activities.
For walking and exercise - benefiting physical and mental health.
Recommend Sunbathing .Rather than being banned should be encouraged as providing Vitamin D and hence strengthening immune system.
One or two people - observing social distancing-
should be allowed to meet up to exercise and /or sociallise.

Why the contribution is important

This small first step should be taken .
General lock down must continue.
The health and wellbeing of people should come long before the economy.

The economy could be stimulated at a later date by stimulating demand by boosting the income of low income and deprived groups and areas.

Outdoor exercise should not be capped at an hour. People should be able to go where they want for the time they want as long as they observe social distancing. The evidence states that the virus is harder to catch outdoors so let people play golf, walk run or cycle or even meet up with people outside their family groups for an external catch up. Externally allows you to see people but not put them directly at risk and would benefit lots of people missing family and friends

Agreed open the golf courses, they had adequate SD and non contact procedures prior to the lockdown

We are keen runners but also have 2 dogs to walk so there’s always a trade off. It would help enormously if the exercise rules were changed to two 1 hour slots a day.

Yes. Fresh air and physical activity is good for the mood, sunlight can boost vitamin d levels and there is evidence that lockdown and reduced physical activity reduces muscle mass meaning that if you do get ill your chance of survival is already reduced as a result of this.
Restricting the ability to exercise can result in weight gain, again it was on the news that being obese reduces your chance of survival if you get ill.

I dont see the harm in having people exercise more than once. We should be allowed to go out 2/3 times or just whenever we want for walks, runs, biking etc. We will all still be following the social distancing rules.

Clarify the rules around this as i am part of a walking group that regularly has posts from members explaining that they have walked for 3 or 4 hours. if it is meant to be 1hr per day then messaging requires to be cleared up.

There is no requirement to limit exercise to one hour as far as I am aware. Michael Gove made a statement about a one hour period but it was not part of UK or Scottish government advice or regulation.
Being allowed to undertake more than one exercise session per day would be a very good idea.

Agree need to open up outdoors and exercise. Being allowed to travel to take exercise will allow more social distancing. Respecting the place you travel to I.e. not using shops in that area- leave no trace. There is no need to restrict the amount of exercise you do outdoors. The scientific evidence is that this improves mental and physical health and so the immune system. This is where the focus should be and the investment support the health of the nation in a sustainable way.

We are already able to exercise multiple times a day with no limit of time, the only place where exercising once a day only was legally enforced was in Wales. I'm not sure why people think the concession on exercise multiple times a day is something new.
