Farming and local industry subsidies
Subsidies for our local industries.
Why the contribution is important
One thing that this epidemic would seem to have demonstrate is our complete lack of self sufficiency. I think this moment should be a wake up call. We should now be investing in our farmers and helping them to grow and rear good food. We should be investing in local industries, so that what we buy has a low carbon foot print and is always available. Our fishing industry should be protected as another locally sourced food.
Subsidies should go toward the production of good quality, locally produced goods, so that if levies on cheap imports are deemed politically problematic, our local food can at least be cheap enough to compete.
