first minister

When will the first minister allow other members of the Cabinet to speak at the podium during daily updates, as does Downing Street.

The first ministers favourite sayings are " I as first Minister", I this and I that, perhaps the word WE should be introduced into her vocabulary

Why the contribution is important

Respect for the Public, less condescending attitude, and giving us, the Scottish people, the opportunity to evaluate the performance of the Cabinet.
Since we pay 1p in the pound more income tax than England maybe we could see what we get for our money.

FM cannot allow other participants of the 'cabinet' to speak due to incompetence and foolishness.

ScotGov and Nicola Sturgeon have handled the pandemic much better than Westminster. By having the first minister present each day consistency has been created, unlike WM.
The first minister is always supported by her advisers, who do change as necessary.
Don't try to fix what is not broken.

I think the First Minister is the right person to lead the briefings and that she strikes the right tone. Other Ministers and officials also speak at the briefings.

Jesus wept. If she wasn't at every press conference the complaint would be that she's not at every press conference! Unbelievable

    This idea lacks any credibility

It's an interesting point. If you look at many leaders , both in politics and industry, the decision over to use "We" or "I" says much about them. Doesn't mean they are good or bad but it does say a lot about their attitude as a leader and the confidence, or lack of, in the people they have around them.
Mind you I do think it is a Scottish Parliament issue- not many impressive speakers and most just follow the same script. Leadership is an issue.
Ironically I thought the initial Chief Medical Officer came across very well, used the word "we" and referenced the rest of the team around her regulalry. You felt as if she got it. She really engaged the audience and didn't have a political identity which was important and refreshing. And then she went on holiday!

Our fist minister has at least been doing her job unlike the PM (post his illness) who has been virtually invisible. The mishmash of voices from Westminster is not helpful.

We pay more tax for a better society.

I believe our First Minister is doing an amazing job. I draw strength from hearing her briefing each day. Compassionate, clear and honest.

Our first minister is doing an amazing job in such difficult times. I appreciate her honest direct approach to,information. Very difficult time for her.

First Minister is doing a brilliant job just now. She is open, honest and sincere.
First and foremost she is trying to keep the people living in Scotland safe and reduce spread of the virus. I have a lot of respect for her so please stop nitpicking and give her some credit.

This idea does indeed lack any credibility. The First Minister is exactly the correct person to do these briefings . She id doing an excellent job.

First Minister comes over as dictatorial and dogmatic. This dilutes her message and risks people not following her instruction due to her apparently arrogant approach. She should consider the use of the word “we” more often. It may well have quite an impact on people’s reaction to her “rules” as it will feel more empathetic.

I really don’t care who gives the updates but it needs to be a UK approach. Furlough is payed by UK gov so we need to return at same time. Also Scottish companies do compete across UK if we stop businesses starting up their customers will have gone elsewhere when we do.

She leads, takes responsibility and shows her care for those who she serves. What else would you expect from a leader. You, may notice though that other ministers are there, health, justice etc when required.

I don’t always listen to her briefing. However I never miss the PM

FM is leading the way . She would be criticised if she wasn't at the podium. I'm proud we've got such a leader during this crisis.

If Nicola is doing such a great job why is R higher in Scotland given the size of our country, and the open spaces we have. Is the problem poorly run care homes, if which I personally have seen quite a few when looking for a care home for my Mother, thankfully I eventually found a very good one for her, or is it people abusing lockdown rules?

How on the one hand can you say "Stay at Home" and on the other hand go out and exercise as much as you like, I'm confused.

Mao Tse Tung didn’t trust anyone around him. It’s a sign of a weak administration that Chairman Sturgeon feels the need to front these press conference.

There is a lack of process at Hollyrood so you get "policy on the hoof".

The constant presence of the First Minister gives us direction and confidence she is leading from the front. That is her role and her place. She is doing what she should be as our First Minister and it is appreciated.

The First Minister has conducted the office with the integrity, transparency, respect and compassion that is required. Other ministers have been present when appropriate. Keep up the great work. Pleased to have you working to serve and protect our nation. You have earnt my full trust, your continued actions will maintain that trust. This isnt unconditional. Continue to act in a progressive outward looking manner and I'm sure this will be maintained.
