Fix our infrastructure NOW while things are quiet

Our roads are full of potholes
Our sewers are creaking and leaking
Old phone lines and exchanges are not up to the job of carrying fiber broadband (as many of us have found while trying to work from home)
There is a conveyer bridge of the A78 at Hunterston that is waiting demolition
why not do this stuff NOW while the roads are quiet.
If we are allowing shops to open and small teams of people to work together to staff them, why not let small teams get busy on the maintenance/upgrading of our infrastructure ?

Why the contribution is important

We need to be ready to work when we get out of lockdown.
Poor infrastructure gets in the way and slows us down/ prevents us.
Infrastructure work is hugely disruptive when we are all working at full stretch so do it now while things are quiet!
Gives productive employment to the construction industry and can be done in small groups with reduced transmission risk.

Seems sensible, plausible and logical. Might there be issues around human and financial resource given how much is being spent unexpectedly on managing the impact of the pandemic?

Makes sense if it can be done with existing staff and social distancing. Certainly wouldn’t cause as much disruption as roads are quieter.
