Freelance Makeup Artists

As a makeup artist of over 22years and educator, I think the following steps could allow us back to work.

Deep clean of Makeup products using Isopropyl Alcohol 70%. Each product also cleaned in front it clients before and after use. Sprayed Wiped with alcohol

Separate brush sets per client, All brushes deep cleaned a sanitised before and after use. Washed and alcohol- ed

Disposable sponges and puffs

Mask and disposable Gloves worn during application. Mask worn throughout.

Extra time will need to be given on jobs to allow for more stricter hygiene procedures.

I have also a LED light which kills 99% of germs this can be used on surfaces and my kit

Hand sanitizer for client and myself.

At weddings, one to one with bride in separate room. At photoshoots, makeup area separate from photography area social Distance from creative team, no touch- ups on set, masks worm throughout, in makeup studios similar to hair salon regulations would have to be created.

Why the contribution is important

Makeup artists have strict hygiene standards as practice, I would be happy to help create guidelines.

In advertising photoshoots the team could be kept small, most photography studios have a separate room or area for hair and makeup.

I had a makeup school for 10 years, and have connections with colleges and the wider networks of makeup artists In Scotland. We all lost our jobs over night, It’s important we can return to work safely.

I trained at Sarah's makeup school and fully support her. She really knows what she is talking about and trained all her students to hold the highest standards. The only thing I could add to this is, that MUA's should consider using the face visors that dentists and dental care professionals use to shield faces their own faces. I work Full Time as a Civil Servant and Part Time at weekends doing photoshoots, and this is really effecting not just my business, but my metal health.
