Future Scotland

I think now it would be a good idea to plan for Scotland's economic future (Indy or not) and we should take the opportunity to consider the deliberate adoption of a new green industry. MY background includes working for the renewables and oil & gas markets, and while the former needs to continue and grow we should be looking for international co-operation as well as reviewing new ideas such as the manufacture of electric cars, etc
Also we should be looking to long term manufacture of our own PPE for here and export as well as our own pharmaceutical industry based on experiences through dealing with the current virus.
In short we should establish a new body of industry, trade unions, colleges and universities specifically to look at the forward agenda and perhaps we could start to lay the plans for this now.

Great work in dealing with the current emergency so far

Why the contribution is important

To start to work on Scotland's long term future and to seek valuable niche markets for ourselves as well of course to looking at restarting our traditional economies.

I agree with green policies as far as possible but rural areas should not be left behind. Not all policies are applicable to areas outwith cities or large towns. If public transport was better connected, with quicker journey times and more affordable, that would be a start.

Yes, it's tragic that all the wind turbines are manufactured abroad, many as far as Indonesia! Procurement should be Scotland/UK first. We need to be developing and supporting home industries.
