Get on your bike

Restructuring our roads within town, such a Aberdeen to be bike friendly. Right now our road are so full of potholes it's not safe for any number of cyclists to travel and no where to keep bikes when they get to work if that's the future. Also work places need to have facilities to freshen up in once you get there.

Why the contribution is important

Public transport is going to be pointless after lockdown. We will either have to walk or cycle to work. We as a country are not set up for this. It's not just a case of widening a few roads in town, people need to be able to walk and cycle safely to and from the work place. Getting back to work is more important than have a cup of coffee in a cafe.

Not a great idea. Are thee showers at people's workplaces where they can shower and change when they get to work? Do people, in general, really live close enough to their workplaces to be able to even consider walking/cycling to work? I think there will be a increase in car usage more than anything else as people consider safer forms of travelling to work, so maybe we should be considering opening up car park areas and freeing up the roads for smoother travel.

Encourage more cycling and walking with dedicated vehicle free streets so they are pollution free .
Make sure bus routes are not blocked by parked cars
Residential streets have traffic calming - not speed bumps they are noisy. At intervals, alternating sides, left right left right, along the roads build a small flower bed or just bit of pavement so only one car can pass. This will make these roads less attractive as rat runs when others are busy but also encourage the slower speed to stick to the 20 or even slower.

What if someone's place of work was beyond their local area? I honestly don't see this happening. What the Transport Secretary suggested yesterday was a whole lot of unrealistic rubbish.
