Golf

Golf courses should be opened up to locals. All you need is someone at the first tee to make sure people follow the rules .

Why the contribution is important

It’s important because it gets people out doing something they love which can be important for mental health.

There are well documented health benefits that golf provides participants both physically and mentally.
Golf is played in quiet wide open spaces and is enjoyed by people of all ages.
It is possible to play golf while respecting the 2 metres social distancing guidance, but allowing some element of social contact with playing partners. And most players have only a short journey to their course.
Prior to the lock down golfers were changing in the golf club carparks so as to avoid contact with other golfers, keeping 2 metres apart at all times, not touching flagpoles, the holes had inserts in them so as minimum contact was had between hand and golf hole, and all proshops and clubhouses were closed so no virus could be spread by contact. So why not go back to these restrictions and let thousands of Golfers back out onto the course?

Totally agree, currently I walk my dog on my local course, but cannot walk and swing a club? We are also an island community max of 20 Members (locally) no cases of covid, and locked down from the outside world.

I also walk on my local golf courses - they are very pleasant open areas and are currently available to all members of the public
