Greater rights to remote working and flexi-working

Enshrine greater rights for workers to remote work and flexi-working in office based roles and where a physical presence is not required to fulfil ones duties of employment.

Why the contribution is important

1. It will give people greater ability to best judge for themselves when it is important to attend an office, rather than at the whims of employers.

2. Reduce the number of workers commuting and sharing office space.

3. Avoid workers all travelling at peak times together, giving greater flexibility as to when to travel.

4. Workers will have greater flexibility in the hours that they shop, make childcare arrangements and managing their lives around ongoing social distancing.

I agree as some employers are not acting in the best interest of their employees or the greater public.

Commonsensical and implementable if employers are not allowed to have sole say.

I would suggest that those who can, and want to, work from home should be able to do so. Maybe having checking days on location from time to time for HWB and social reasons.

Working at home works for some, but due to the increased stress of all families at home this can be difficult for all, giving the worker flexibility in their work base will help. Also separating the working week so that a rota is on place with some home and office based working would help. Also working alongside the same people so a bubble writhing a workplace to ensure consistency and support. The use of face masks if working inside alongside the use of gloves and regular handwashing. Minimising the risk to all by using a one way system which is clearly marked. Those that travel via public transport to wear masks and ensure that hand sanitizer is used when staff arrive at a workplace before allowing entry to the building.

This is key to how office based work continues and protects workers, their families, and vulnerable groups.
Employers and individual bosses have for too long been inflexible. The balance of power needs to be addressed to support the employees. Technology is now advanced enough to support this and companies need to keep up!

Employers should encourage their workers to engage in "adult conversations" as to what is best for everyone involved in the business. Adults respond better when they are made to feel that their opinions matter.

If you can work from home and still do your job employers should be supporting this. The government have to provide legislation on this matter.

Also support childcare - the more people who can continue to stay at home the better our chances will be of lowering the r rating

Having some time ago had to endure a miserable process where my employer significantly changed my working hours, and I had to fight for one day at home each week, I fully support the advancement of rights for employees to work from home.

We of course do have to accept that this is not possible across the board, but during this crisis, when employees and employers have demonstrated that work can be done effectively from home, the rights of the employee should be greater. That is, employers should have to rigorously justify why they think its not suitable, rather than giving a cursory negative response to an application for flexible working.
