Green Recovery

A focus on environmentally friendly industries in the future - eg in our electricity generation. This would have economic as well as environmental advantages as we could increase our engineering industry. No bail out of the oil industry, airline industry or other damaging sectors and investment in green energy and sustainable industries.

Why the contribution is important

Whilst covid has been absolutely awful there is a greater threat to us which is climate change. The young and healthy will not be spared. However this would be a great opportunity to restructure our economy to make it work better for all.

    We need to use this opportunity to reset the economy. We need to have a system that recognises the social value of the work that we do. Encourage different business models that do not have profit at their heart. Support grants should recognise and support those businesses that operate in a socially and environmentally sound way. The Scottish business pledge could be used as a foundation and businesses would need to sign up to the pledge to receive funding.
