Why the contribution is important

During this time it's necessary for all to look after everyones health... Gyms are very important on this as these are the most important things to help with mental health problems.... As well as fitness for me it's much more for mental health issues... It helps people find them self and relaxes the mind... Helps you think about what you want to come out of it all... Many people will be finding it hard to stay indoors but if we all look out for each other in our gym as we do we will make it work as our gym buddies are important as families and who all need exercise. ... We are all together as one.. Thank you

Gyms can readily be adapted to social distancing.

Seems a perfectly reasonable idea. The country has to get back to a semblance of normality and this would be one of many small steps in getting there.

Exercise is important for a healthy body and a fit brain, opening gyms and keeping within the gov guidelines can help, not everyone is into walking or running, gyms provide multiple training for every kind of exercise from weights to boxing etc, if run correctly should be aloud to open during this current situation we are in just like the supermarkets do etc

Totally agree with this. If carried out safely, gyms could in turn save the Scottish Health Service millions of pounds that would otherwise need to be spent on mental health services caused by the lockdown. For many people, the gym is the only place, for just a small amount of time, they can find mental clarity or comfort.

Absolute and was being done before lockdown. My gym was particularly good . They reduced numbers and had a complete clean down after classes. People were sensible and maintained sensible distance . Mental and physical health is so so important . Especially as some people are not allowed to engage in their chosen activities just now .

Sorry, cant agree with this. There are too many hands touching different bits of equipment, and despite gym staff doing their best - it would be impossible to maintain this safely. Gyms are in the same bracket as pubs as far as I am concerned (and I'm a gym and pub user)

It is entirely feasible for gyms to reopen, they can be flexible with arrangements, take 24 hour gyms for instance. The spread of people visiting the gym can be managed over the whole day/night.

The gym is for some people including myself, a full time hobby/employment and we are hurting over its closure. It boosts people immune systems and prevents a multitude of other diseases. Gyms should be prioritised immediately for reopening after implementing some more safety measures of course.

I think opening gyms is a bad idea it's on surfaces and in the air its invisible covid19 why would u want to risk ure health theres plenty of other things can do for exercise.who would be responsible for a properxlean downof gym equipment would be putting themselves at risk be patient living is more important than dying from this

I think gyms should be reopened because my local gym had Have a nice day sanitisers everywhere

Providing people follow the rules and are punished with a temporary ban from the gym if caught not following rules then gyms could be open in a safe way by monitoring gym traffic keeping it below a certain number and allocating a booking system to use the gym (the same way you would choose a class, only this would be a 1 hour time slot to use the gym.)
The gym literally saved me from taking my own life and turning to alcohol and drugs and I’m sure there are others in similar situations - giving people this (which for some could really be a necessity for maintaining their mental health) would mean they would make sure to follow rules so that they never missed out on it. Deep cleans at end of shift for each worker and mandatory sanitisation of equipment after use by members - providing the numbers are limited and strict, this would be easy to enforce by having one member of staff overlooking the main floor at all times.

Absolutely. Gyms must be reopened sooner rather than later (late May-early June), granted all the necessary measures are introduced. I can't believe we will soon be living in a country where people can 'safely' go to McDonalds and KFC but aren't allowed back in the gym, the very thing that will keep their immune system up and working properly.
