Hand washing facilities at work

Require employers to have hot water and soap readily accessible for all staff members to use to allow regular hand washing, and to build this into working patterns and expectations as necessary. Work spaces without these facilities should not be reopened and staff shouldn't be required to return to work until they are available.

Why the contribution is important

Many places of work do not offer adequate facilities for hand washing and may force staff to return, further spreading the risk of infection.

Also require alcohol hand sanitiser, if there is any available. Also business needs to look at minimising hand contact with commonly used items, like signing in pens, door handles etc.

    This is obvious

Absolutely agree. That is a basic but very important essential need.

I think this is an excellent idea and backs my idea of mandatory hand washing facilities being made available and people enforced to use them at the entrance to every establishment shops, restaurants pubs schools nurseries, sports area places of work etc. To create a safer Scotland

It would be benificial to have a set of requirements for businesses. In China companies wanting to reoprn had to apply for a permit and in this they had to state what precautions they were taking to prevent the spread

Not just work places but care homes. I would like ot know how many of the Care Homes have this in place. It should be mandatory.

Care Homes should be the safest place on the planet if the correct precautions are taken.

We live in the C21st; how many work places don't offer soap and hot water? We (most of us) are grown adults and understand the importance of hand-washing and general hygiene, the more so since Covid struck.

It's a legal requirement for employers to provide welfare including toilets and hand washing facilities. That some neandrethals choose not to wash their hands is another matter entirely.

You can lead a worker to a wash hand basin, but you cannot make them use it.

seems obvoius to people who do hand wash
you’d be shocked at how many DONT
And I’m talking about educated so called responsible people.
There should be visual reminders around workplaces, if some will act like children, they should be treated like children.
Should be included in the curriculum over and over until it sticks.
