Holiday homes

Allow people who have tested negative to visit their holiday/2nd homes while adhering to all Govt. Guidelines.

Why the contribution is important

Many homes are being left empty and damage etc may have occurred plus they may be in breach of insurance requirements. Also allows people to break the monotony of the lockdown.

No. SEE ALL THE PREVIOUS ideas IDENTICAL with yours and all the reasons why this is irresponsible towards the people who live in the community where your 2nd home is.

This would be a bad idea, we don't need more non essential journeys

Bad idea as per reasons given above

You will probably find that insurance companies have altered their terms and conditions and allow holiday homes to be unoccupied for an extended period during this time!

Definitely a bad idea and would make policing of movement more difficult.

Can’t agree with this as would be detrimental to 2nd homes in rural areas where NHS coverage not as robust as other areas

Definitely a bad idea, as said in previous posts they are using the checking of homes as an excuse, where i live we have a high percentage of second homes and holiday lets many which are now occupied by the irresponsible owners they are putting pressure on our already understocked only super market limited stock, also our local post workers and couriers are finding it even busier than Christmas mostly due to delivering none essential goods to the second home owners putting their health at risk the government should not allow this

Surely most people with second homes have friends or acquaintances who actually live in the area, who could check their house for them while they are not able to travel there themselves?

This is a bad idea, we need people to stay in their own area

As long as the R number is sufficiently low across Scotland then seems ok to me. Perhaps limit travel within Scotland to crossing between only 2 Local Authority areas.

I personally don't see any reason why if people are careful at home they cannot be careful in a second home. Presumably they are paying Council Tax on the 2nd home and should have a right to use their property and/or get a refund on the Council Tax which is helping to support local services. If someone did get ill I am pretty sure they would all head off home anyway so local Heath Services would not be pressurised in any way. Local people are happy enough in normal times to welcome these people and the amounts they spend locally. We can't keep them away for ever and checking on a property I would deem as an essential anyway.

No reason why this wouldn't work, caravans wither tourers or static on seasonal pitches already have there own facilities and are spaced out, would be easy to Social distance, and as its self catering, no need to visit local shops/supermarkets, just bring your own supplies
