Home Working Support

We are all embracing home working and it will be a key step change for everyone for the foreseeable future.

However not everyone has space or the right equipment at home to make it the norm long term.

People need:
Desks
Chairs
Correct lighting (lamps)

This would allow people to create a designated work space at home (were not all lucky enough to have a study or spare room).

However pressure on finances we need support to buy this equipment.

A government grant to allow people to do this would help keep people at home.

Why the contribution is important

Keeps people at home.

Could be done by applying a special home office tax relief.

Their needs to be some consideration of IT costs, speed & number of other users in the home, IT support and devices including boosters so that you can work in another room. In cold weather, people would also need to put the heating on. For low paid workers, these costs are significant.

The lack of transport costs eg train or bus fares, petrol and parking, plus less requirement for work clothes etc should help offset cost of homeworking.

@rayneri those savings were wiped out with increase in has and electricity costs from being home 24 / 7.
Plus kids at home seem to eat far more than when they were at school.
Plus 20% drop in salary as furloughed.
And as much as I would like to sit around naked i still need to buy clothes to work..even from home.
