Immune Resilience
Immune Resilience
My idea is that more focus should be placed on improving the immunity of the Scottish people.
To wait for a vaccine to be developed seems to be a missed opportunity for improving our immune resilience now. And immune resilience would prepare us for any future virus and other diseases.
Consider how to flex the spend on pharmaceuticals into financial support and testing to counteract micronutrient deficiency which reduces immune resilience.
Provide education on how to build a healthy immune system. Education and financial support for essential diet and micronutrient supplements. Here are some examples
• Correct micronutrient deficiency through balanced diet and use of appropriate supplements
• Limit smoking and alcohol
• Reduce reliance on pharmaceuticals
• Get adequate sleep
• Do moderate physical activity
• Manage your stress better (massage, meditation, time in nature, laughter, music, social connection)
Why the contribution is important
Immunity is the key to fighting any disease. Old people and people in care homes would benefit significantly. People with dark skins are most at risk of low Vitamin D which is one of the keys to healthy immune system. The government and NHS could find a way to do this now and monitor the effect.
