Incentives to Retire

This is a think outisde the box idea :

with the probability of a lot of businesses needing to get back on their feet and to help society, especially the younger workforce, to remain in employment is there an opportunity to make it attractive for the older workforce to retire early therefore freeing positions and job opportunities? Changes to the rules around personal pensions or state pension / retirement age.

(I am over 50 so this is not meant as an agesist suggestion)

Why the contribution is important

To reboot employment and ensure there are jobs available for people especially younger people who may be impacted more.

I already made a similar idea that the previous state retirement age be reinstated meantime, 60 for women and 65 for men. This would ease the unemployment rates that will skyrocket with all the businesses that are not going to reopen as they have gone bust.

Yes , there need to be jobs for all the youner workers who will be inevitably be made redundant. Already companies are laying off rather than furloughing because they can see major permanent recession ahead. Transport, hotels, hospitality and leisure can expect major downturn for a few years at least.

We are unlikely to return to full employment for some time so it makes sense for those close to retirement to retire a little early to free up jobs for the young.

It would mean lowering the state pension age or some other payment from the Scottish government to pay early retirees until they reach state pension age.

I started my business a year ago and had a year well mapped out for me to extent my business. As I am in my late 50s and as my business means going to major events to sell my products to customers, I cannot see a way forward for me. My business is dead in the water now and I had put a lot of money into getting this up and running . The thought of trying to get it up and running with no funds to do that is not a thought I relish or can see as being practicable. Retirement and give back to my community through volunteer work seems a viable option should the retirement age be reduced.

Time to reduce the pension age and allow older people to step back and younger people get employment
