Increase ESA and other income based benefit payments.

Westminster have raised Universal Credit by £20 a week in recognition of the fact that people are under more strain right now.

I propose they also increase ESA, JSA and Carers allowance by the same amount.

Why the contribution is important

People are under increased financial pressure right now.

Every person is under financial strain - even those who don't qualify for benefits.

I would go further and introduce a Universal Basic Income for all Citizens. It would hugely simplify the system and it would take a massive pressure off of us all. Anyone who didn't want to claim their entitlement could opt to donate theirs to a common good fund.

A universal approach would be fairer and easier. It shouldn't be called "Income", though. With a different name, Scotland wouldn't need permission from the UK government to introduce it.
