Infrastructure commitments

Redistribute monies earmarked for creating a new dual carriageway in the NE of Scotland, which is estimated to be £3billion plus, to just upgrading the current A96 in situ, and use the rest of the money to support and save small businesses , provide further funding for health care

Why the contribution is important

As a tax payer I wish more say in where my money is being spent.
With the issue of climate change and the possibility of companies continuing with home working , there is an opportunity for the Scottish Government to re assess its priorities, Firstly by acknowledging that two new dual carriage ways to Inverness are not necessary and the monies would be better sent ensuring small businesses do not go under as a result of the current crisis. It would also allow more funding for improving the conditions for workers in the Health and care services.

As the Government expressed a "Climate Emergency" earlier in the year the shift of funding from major road developments into these other areas would help towards the Governments aim for zero carbon emissions.

The larger we build Scotland's roads, the more we diminish the very essence of that which is Scotland.

    Agree.

Already recognised that our digital infrastructure needs to be prioritised over roads.

Given the likely move to greater home working and digital meetings in the post Covid world - suspending funding for road infrastructure makes sense.

Redistribution of that funding to meet immediate needs of the economy and support digital needs of those isolating is more important
