Internet + Smartphones for elderly

Due to the coronavirus and needing to establish a new normal, we are all now needing to rely on the internet, more and more.

The internet and owning a smart phone with app is less and less a luxury or 'want', it's becoming a need. We are a society that provides needs, especially or at least in times of a quarantine.

In order to ease the livelihoods of the elderly, those in poverty, and those who are otherwise more old-fashioned. Smart phones and free internet access should be encouraged/provided, with support in how to use them.

While the internet is now becoming more important than ever, there are older and poorer members of society being left behind.

These people should get access to the internet simply provided to them. On top of that, they should be encouraged and if necessary then financially assisted in getting smart phones and provided free tutorials/support on how to use them.

This is a must for them in the current society.

Free internet and more support for the vulnerable.

Why the contribution is important

Nobody should be left behind and society needs modernised if it needs to rapidly find a 'new normal'.

Especially as everything is going online and not just online, but on to apps that you need a smartphone in order to download.

Yes and should also include in this group anyone else needing financial or technical support to access the internet

Can we first find out how many people do not actually have Internet access (either at home or via phone contract). Seems media are currently doing storeis based on anecdotal information rather than hard facts about coverage.

Strongly agree. An additional plus is that this will be an employment opportunity for people being deployed to give the elderly technical support.
