Inverclyde
I think that it would be important and should be prioritised that Inverclyde needs massive support during and after lockdown. We’re struggling down here due to our massive deprivation and poverty levels. We have a high amount of key works as they tend to be lower paid and it now appears that we are 3 x higher with regards to mortality than anywhere else in Scotland.
We need support and we need help for the Scottish Government immediately.
There should be a focus on prioritising Inverclyde and with regards to lockdown I believe we need a systematic approach.
There is also talk of ships berthing in Greenock and allowing crew and anyone else on board to disembark in Greenock to make their inwards journey home. The public within Inverclyde haven’t been consulted and it feels like we are extremely disposable at the moment.

Why the contribution is important
Prior to lockdown Inverclyde was identified as being one of the most deprived areas in Scotland. Now we have the title of being the coronavirus capital of Scotland. Imagine living here and hearing this.
We need funds and support into Inverclyde immediately or we will not survive this.

When moving forward there needs to be additional investments in place to identify exactly why this area is the most deprived with the highest number of deaths.
The people of Inverclyde are feeling abandoned and disposable. We have elected councillors contacting the Scottish Government but the residents of Inverlcyde need to be consulted and supported to share their thoughts and feelings about how this area can receive what it needs.
