Keep lockdown until June

Close all the non essential shops .car washes etc that have now opened even although lockdown has not changed
Keep garden centres coffee shops and all other non essentials closed until at least June as they are encouraging people to go for non essentials if they were not open no one would be going

Why the contribution is important

For the safety of my own family and every other family
For the mental health of the staff working in these non essential shops etc dealing with mile long wussies of people buying nonsense

No. Open everything. The so called scientists and medics say that Covid-19 is with us for good. That means that we'll all get it - sooner or later. I want there to be an economy that can cope with the problem, not one where society has broken down.

'Keep everything closed until June'???? Absolutely no way. Covid is here to stay, it is not going to disappear at the end of June, July, or the year. The chances of a vaccine having been rolled out within the next two/three years is slim at best. We ALL need to open up, get out there and get on with life if we are not going to succumb to other serious mental and health issues. The economy needs kick-starting, and NOW if any of us are going to continue to feed and clothe ourselves.

Whilst restarting the economy is vital and also reducing the health impact of lockdown activity , another few weeks to really supress the virus could be the best solution for both in the lock term to create the required conditions to ease restrictions in a sustainable way and enabling manageable infection control to avoid further large outbreaks. During this period be explicit and ban non essential journeys to take away premises.

No. I'm self employed, I cannot afford to be off any longer. I can work to social distancing rules no problem. I'm more at risk in supermarkets than at work

Re open everything now with shielding in place for the vulnerable as per edinburgh uni research. Focus on improving metabolic health since diabetes, high blood pressure etc raise risks of death with covid and studies show low vit D levels has negative impact on survival.

No. The virus is not going to go away. A vaccine could be discovered in the next six months or not for years. We need to learn to live with it. Target our resources to protecting the most vulnerable, segment and shield the vulnerable and those who care for them. I understand this could be seen as discriminatory towards those groups but I would also say I don't think any of this should be enforced by threat of legal sanction.

We may have to learn to live with the virus but if we have a second peak the impact on jobs, health and the economy will be far worse in the long run than if we have a few more weeks of lockdown now and work out a phased return to work and opening up again.

We may not all have to get the virus. If we're patient and careful, we may be able to re-open AND protect the most vulnerable (including vulnerable workers particularly those 60-69 and those with pre-existing health conditions) until a vaccination is available.
