Keep restaurants closed

There is not requirement for restaurants (who have not already opened for takeaway) to be open. There is plenty of choice with takeaway options at the moment and if restaurants reopen, staff are being put at risk. If you open restaurants please do so as takeaway only/outdoor seating . However, if implementing this, please ensure there is support for businesses that cannot do takeaway or outdoor seating.

Please consider this so staff can stay safe, it is all very well that customers that socially distanced, but what about the staff? They still have to risk themselves by approaching customers at tables etc to provide the service they have asked for. This is why it should be takeaway only and outside seating IF the customer wishes to eat on premises.

Why the contribution is important

Do not staff at risk when there are so many options already open, and potentially more for takeaway. Please keep us safe.

Totally agree, keep them closed for the moment.

Delay restaurants and pubs opening as this will increase the amount of people out unnecessarily and encourage them to travel further, be out longer and meet in larger groups.
Many restaurants have started a take away/ delivery service which should be encouraged.

Restaurants may be easier to open than pubs and possibly more required. The Dutch have managed by using small greenhouses - imaginative projects - how about eating elevated fromthe ground with food hoisted up!

I don’t think restaurants or pubs should be opened until the numbers of infections are way down
We need to protect staff and customers

Restaurants are open in other countries who have kept lower infection rates than us, we need to be open minded & not just follow Boris & Nicola like sheep.

Opening restaurants too quickly and earlier has more negative impacts than the positives. Staff would be at risk and social distancing would be challenging. Places offering takeaways already are effective so restaurants don’t need to open
