Legalise Electric Scooters

There is already a discussion to reduce some of the restrictions on ebikes and legalise electric scooters and other electric transportation such that you don’t need to be pedalling to be under power.

This should be brought forward to modernise travel and reduce cars in the roads

Why the contribution is important

We can’t social distance on much of the public transport network as it stands and thus must consider other means of transport. Electric scooters are a cheap option for rapid mobility of the population when commuting or for leisure.

Scooters, segways etc would allow people to avoid public transport and may encourage some to leave the car behind.

This could aid social distancing but limit the speed if pavements are being used.

great idea, but would have to undergo some kind of road/path proficiency test. I already have to deal with cyclists riding on the road, right next to a newly completed cycle path?

Looks like the transport minister just introduced this for England extending the future travel zones from four areas to all of England effective from 1st June. Would be great to see a law change in Scotland too
