Leisurely motorcycle riding

To allow people to go out on a motorcycle. Social distancing can be maintained at all times. Full face helmet / gloves on at all times.
Possibly only allow lone riding.

Why the contribution is important

A key reason Government supports walking, running and riding a bicycle is the physical and mental benefits they have.
It is low-impact but you can burn around 600 calories an hour.
Motorcycling has the same benefits, releasing endorphins and improving the rider's mood and mental health.

As an ex-biker myself I know how desperate to get out and about bikers are, come the better weather, but it is no more therapeutic than my wife and I going for a run in our closed car. It is the thin end of the wedge and unfair on motorists.

If I can't go in my car, you shouldn't be able to go on your motorbike.

a big NO from me, this is not an essential journey.

Has the potential to be a huge drain on emergency services, and appears quite a selfish activity

I would say that for many riders - riding a motorbike safely is therapeutic, extremely pleasurable and does contribute to psychological well-being. To argue that riding a motorbike is a selfish activity and has potential to be a huge drain on emergency services would not stand up to thorough analysis and scrutiny in my view.

One could suggest that motorbikes be treated equally with electric bicycles/cyclists - and be restricted to limited riding times within a reasonably good sized geographic radius of their home area - for pleasure purposes.

Like any endeavour on the roads - there are risks associated with all forms of transport - and I believe research shows that one of the most common causes of motorcycle accidents is the failure of car drivers to look carefully for approaching motorcyclists - especially at junctions.

This surely, is about easing the lockdown not what is happening now so saying that just because you cannot use your car for leisure at the moment, motorcyclists should not be able to ride in the future, as the lockdown is eased, is missing the point.

There will be differences across all sectors of life and work as lockdown is eased.

Motorcycling is fundamentally a self distancing activity. In my opinion, car drivers who can successfully follow self distancing should also be able to go out. Both motorist and motorcyclist will also need to self distance when stopping for breaks.

If nothing else, it will support the petroleum industry as well as the rider's emotional and physical wellbeing.

Motorcycling ticks all the boxes in terms of solo activity, no crowd contamination, mental health and contributing to the economy. To be against it, because it is different to a group car outing, is irrelevant. A blanket removal of restrictions is unlikely so each activity should be treated on its own merits.

Motorcycling is ideal for social distancing. It can also support small fuel stations in rural areas.
It has positive health benefits for the rider. Unfortunately people who don't have motorcycling in their blood with may not understand this.
In summary, as long as the rider is riding sensibly and legally I believe they should be allowed out on their bike.

Perfect for ensuring social distancing, contribution to the stalling economy via fuel purchase. Proven physical and mental health benefits - safer than cycling, we are seeing cyclists in large groups, one behind the other, no masks so potentially infecting those behind them. There is absolutely no reason to stop motorcyclists being allowed to ride as long as they obey the law regarding speed.

As a biker myself I cannot condone going out on a motorcycle, if you have an other form of transportation please use it, I can understand the argument for health benefits but also someone might go out on there bike if they are angry or frustrated, also there is clear evidence that a lot of accidents occur involving 1 motorcycle due to road conditions and misjudgement of bends so I would beg all bikers to leave the bike at home if they can rather than putting on a backpack and going to the shops and then maybe fitting in a quick blast on the way there or back, also due to lack of cars on the road if anything happened in a rural area it might be a long time before anyone passes and yes to a certain degree the same is true for cyclists, but face it a motorcycle is a lot quicker and heavier so sorry guys please leave the bike for now

Riding a motorcycle has physical and mental health benefits. It's a solo activity where you are wearing coverings on your face and hands already. Provided this was done as a solo activity, or with a household group, and possibly in a limited geographical radius from your home there's no reason to think allowing it will increase the spread of the virus.
