Let's have a Plan

Let us see a plan, to quote " any plan, even a bad plan is better than no plan at all"
I would like to see a plan and a timeline even if it is initially high level. If it is in phases, that's fine by me.
Get a timeline in now with an end date, move forward and continually revise the plan as things become known/clearer.
A plan can be revised, learned from, expanded.
No plan, leaves us wandering aimlessly down a course of action with no idea if it will be successful.

Why the contribution is important

It. is important to have a Goal, in this case an end date
Corona virus is a risk to peoples physical, mental and financial health.
It threatens our economy and way of life.
A plan that is written down is likely to be more successful than a - lets wait and see approach.
A plan focuses attention on the problem.

A plan will give something for businesses to organise themselves around. But the plan must have flexibility as new evidence about the virus emerges. The government appears to be ignoring new evidence and sticking to a worn out script.

Great idea - people need a focus and some hope

A plan with stages to move through different levels of restrictions would help give confidence that there is a route out of the current situation. There would need to be some definition of levels and identification of criteria to be met to move through each level. Similar to the approach taken in New Zealand where they have defined levels of "lockdown" or restrictions and is moving through them as when they are confident that it is safe to do so.

The scottish government have now produced two documents which were meant to include a plan but actually said very little. We need a clearer idea of the criteria that will be used to decide the lockdown should be eased. It is not enough to say their number needs to be lower. How low does it need to be? And when will the government put in place adequate testing to calculate the r number.

The Plan should be to follow the World Health Organisation's 6 Conditions for lifting the lockdown. It is very worrying that this is not included in the SG documents and needs to be clarified

Agree with comments by both Jonsnow & Davidinverness. Politicians say they are following scientific advice so any relevant reports should be available on SG website.

I agree with having a plan. Let’s not focus on the science alone. It is not as predictive as many think. If you look back at previous diseases in the last few years they have been massively wrong. Yes, I know Covid is slightly different but the range of outcomes is enormous. Plan and adapt as you go along

I agree that a plan is becoming essential. The same lockdown message and advice is now not being followed with people relaxing things themselves and returning to ‘normal activities’ with some social distancing in place. We are seeing family members meeting up, friends having BBQs together, traffic usage up etc. The longer the current advice remains without a plan, the more people are going to keep relaxing the rules and doing their own thing.

A clear plan that makes clear what the advice will be at each stage with a clear idea of when each measure will come in to place (adjustments can be made). This will allow people to know where they stand now, what changes are coming up, and allow businesses to plan.

Yes please to a flexible plan. We are a small country so can be adaptable. To start with, this link for ideas from the public needs to be more widespread! I can't believe how few people have posted here. Is the link for 'ideas.gov.scot' been posted on social media? We need to get young people involved too. In the plan would like to see focus on health & well being. In the 2nd WW people all got cod liver oil & orange juice. Can we look at boosting our popultions health? Some people think they are healthy when they are in fact low on essential viatmans & minerals

I couldn’t agree more that Scotland needs a plan now for easing the lockdown and timescales for implementation.

I’m sure there is a plan about to be announced. The problem with giving a timeline and especially an “end” is that so many variables have to be taken into account.

It would be good to have a plan, though I know there are lots of different equations to be taken into account but it would give us all something to work towards.

We need consistency we are not different countries we are one country contrary to some beliefs. We have no borders. Yes we appear to have devolved areas but we should be as one in this instance so YES a plan for all would be extremely constructive, same hymn page as the saying goes

I am in New Zealand at the moment and totally agree with Janetmu comment above. People here talked about Level 4 (highest lockdown) and generally knew the restrictions that were required and adhered to them. We have now been at Level 3 for almost two weeks and are looking forward to moving to Level 2 later this week, case numbers permitting.
The government has always warned that we could move back up a Level if cases increase because people are not complying or there are fresh outbreaks.
When we started on Level 4 we were told that it would be for at least 4 weeks so people had an end in sight and vast majority were happy to comply, especially as we saw the daily reported cases reducing and showing that people's sacrifice of freedoms was working.
We entered Level 3 with businesses operating on a 'click and collect' or home delivery basis for a stated two weeks and as cases have continued to fall Level 2 with businesses starting to operate with less restrictions will see a gradual return to "normality". Social distancing will be a requirement for some time to come.
The point is that people need an end in sight to maintain motivation to keep going through the pain of life being curtailed.
