Liaise with HSE regarding Health Surveillance

Health Surveillance for certain staff is carried out by Occupational Health Providers, either in house or external providers, usually in very close quarters, and enclosed spaces.

Introduce CLEAR guidance on the PPE required to protect Occupational Health staff from illness due to having to undertake these procedures, and legislation to hold employers responsible who do not provide this.

Why the contribution is important

Some procedures may be harmful to these staff, when carried out in close proximity, ie spirometry to test breathing function may produce aerosolised particles, breathalyser tests etc are the same. HSE has at present made no allowances for this, and staff will put themselves at risk carrying out these tests.
