This is basically a good idea, but might need further scientific research to guarantee the safety of items borrowed by various people.
Just letting them sit for 3 days might not be enough, people touch individual pages, and there are various materials involved in production of a book which might potentially harbour the virus on different time scales.
Maybe libraries need to proactively 'decontaminate' books before lending them out again.

Yes please! My son is reading a lot at home and I can afford to buy some new books, but not everyone can.

It's so important for kids to be able to read books they enjoy so that they grow to love reading.

Plus for elderly people the library can be a lifeline. They can't buy cheap books from charity shops right now.
