Libraries

Local libraries can provide a hub for people to access information and local resources . They can also provide a safe space for vulnerable people.

Why the contribution is important

It is really challenging to think of a change which could benefit all parts of society but I think that the library space has the potential to allow for people to step outside the family home and access not just books but music, media and internet. Social distancing can be applied in these spaces too.

I think this is really important for those of us more isolated and also for the less well off. I am well known at my local library by assistants and other users and so it is part of my small circle of contacts. Screens around the assistants , cleaning of books and other items and laying them aside for a few days, ordering by internet and collecting could all happen - I would also like to think a way could be found to hold small established groups for chat within library facilities for the isolated?
