Link Lockdown restrictions to R value, Deaths or Test Results

Set targets for R value, numbers of hospital admissions and/or deaths (zero? or as low as practicable!) and explain that some lockdown restrictions could be eased 14 days after certain targets have been met. The same could be done for mass test results once practicable e.g. perhaps easing restrictions once no key workers or supermarket shoppers have the virus when tested. Base targets on appropriate scientific and epidemiological advice and learn from other countries' experiences.

Why the contribution is important

This would encourage compliance with lockdown, by giving people a measurable 'National Goal' to work towards, encourage feelings of working together to achieve this and the promise of rewards for all.

Agree - Would be good to set, safe, baseline numbers so people know when we can move to different stages of restrictions and also see the impact of different behaviours. Also helps understanding and buy in should we need to tighten restrictions periodically.

Until we start mass testing this R value is a complete red herring.

How can we know how many people are being affected if we dont test , it is nonsense.

Its only use is to justify failed policies
