Meaningful activity and positive mental health
The balance between physical and mental health is important. If you have a garden or even a few pots to grow things in this is good for your mental health. If you can't get what you need to grow some plants your mental health declines. The same is true for DIY. For some people making things, fixing them or improving them gives a great sense of achievement and makes the lockdown bearable. We feel good when we do things that give a positive and meaningful outcome. Similarly spending time outside and exercising is one of the best things we can do for our mental health.
We need a method where people can get the things they need to do practical tasks or take up a new outdoor activity without endangering the lockdown.
Shopping or collecting items that have been donated by others could both be managed with some planning. Project managers we need you!

Why the contribution is important
I worked with NHS Health Scotland training trainers in Mental Health First Aid (how to help others in a mental health crisis). I am very concerned that ordinary people's mental health and well being is being stretched to the limit and suffering long term damage by a lack of recognition of the things that keep us well.
Mental health is as vital as physical health. In the same way as physical health we can do much to support our well being. Please let's consider this in our plans to go forward and make space for activities that encourage a feeling of well being.
