Medical Services

Re-establish full range of non-covid medical services starting with life threatening or limiting conditions including the vulnerable elderly.
Doctors must be prepared to actually see patients and not rely on telephone conversations, sometimes at second hand eg with a staff member rather than the patient in a residential establishment.

Why the contribution is important

Many people with life threatening or long term conditions are being discouraged from contacting medical authorities by the constantly repeated death toll figures & projections.
In addition many clinics have been cancelled leaving those previously receiving treatments in limbo including cancer patients, diabetics with sight issues or ulcers and those in chronic pain without support etc.

Covid 19 is not the only serious threat to life & limb but has been allowed to overwhelm other medical services to the serious risk to many.

There is a large backlog of medical issues arising from both peoples reluctance to attend Hospitals and by the cancellation of a number of clinics when attention was transferred to the front line. The desire to protect people in the vulnerable groups by not having them attend clinics is a short term situation which needs to be resolved in the longer term as Covid 19 lessens. One would hope the NHS has considered the reopening of clinics , done the Risk Assessments and the necessary actions to keep patients safe whilst attending clinics.
It would be worthwhile Hospitals writing to patents outlining what has been done to give reassurance that when people need to attend Hospital or Clinics the situation is well under control and that they will be safe

We are told GPs are still there for us .its impossible to get to see one .you are diagnosed over the phone and given advice based on limited information you give to them .purely based on what you say .surely face to face is better .

I agree with this. I know someone who has a undiagnosed heart problem, due to faulty scanner, still not seen several months on. Another, 2 years waiting for correct diagnosis and treatment for mental illness. No support currently and falling apart. I could go on, but these people and many others are potentially forgotten victims of Covid
