Ministerial pay cut

If the lockdown is to continue, it is reasonable to expect the ministers and others in the civil service to take the same pay cuts as are being seen in the private sector.

Why the contribution is important

It is important that the public have confidence in those leading the country and if we really are all in it together then the financial pain being felt by millions of workers in the private sector must also be seen in the public sector.

100% agree with this. I'd also like to see the expenses they claim stopped or reduced for a set period.

100% disagree with this. Cutting ministers’ salaries and reimbursements will have no effect on my level of confidence in the leadership of the country and implementing it would distract valuable civil service time from work more relevant to keeping us safe,

Totally agree. They decided my work was non essential and so we had to close. I am lucky in that I have been furloughed. Many people though have actual lost their jobs. If they expect me to live on 80% of my wages for the foreseeable future then they should be expected too aswell.
