More support for pub and hospitality workers

As someone who works full time in the pub industry, I am fearful for my job during this crisis. We are aware that due to the infectious nature of the virus, pubs are not a safe environment in terms of spreading the virus, being told that we have no idea of when we will reopen really worries us in terms of what will happen with us.

The majority of us are on furlough pay which is really helpful during this crisis, however furlough pay is only available to June, and having this insecurity about when we can reopen and get back to work is making us worry financially.

I feel that those workers who work in the hospitality industry need some more clear cut guidance on when we can safely return to work, as well as more support to us if we cannot return to work for a while yet. We have bills to pay and mouths to feed and it’s almost as if we are not important.

My idea is important as it helps to give pub workers more security in their jobs. We will have a more clear cut idea of when we can safely return to work, as well as ensuring we have financial support when furlough pay ends and we are still not out earning money.
