Motorcycling in a pandemicź

Motorcycling during a pandemic should be allowed. One person on a motorcycle is as much a risk as a person pedal cycling. Due to the lock down there has been a huge increase in the amount of people cycling, as an "hours" form of exercise. For many motorcyclists this maybe their only opportunity to be out of the house for an hour.

Why the contribution is important

It is important for peoples mental health.
The lockdown has shown to be unfair, with cycle shops being allowed to stay open as well as car garages.
There has been a disproportionate amount of motorcycles stopped and fined for being "out".

Solo exercise is allowed for personal wellbeing. Motorcyclist also benefit in their personal wellbeing by being out in the open on their own. It also contributes to the economy of struggling rural petrol stations.

Totally agree motorcycles should be allowed if out on your own, not talking about multiple gatherings just on your own. When I go to shop for essentials I see quite a few cyclists but canny work out how one is allowed and the other isn’t. I may be missing something but welcome any thoughts.

I am pretty confident that the health service and/or insurance industry would be able to show that motorcycling is a completely different risk to pedal bikes.

I think that as an outdoor activity, this may be one of the first to come in, but the comparison you draw is incredibly naive.

Motorcycling is ideal for social distancing. It can also support small fuel stations in rural areas.
It has positive health benefits for the rider. Unfortunately people who don't have motorcycling in their blood with may not understand this.
In summary, as long as the rider is riding sensibly and legally I believe they should be allowed out on their bike.
