Newborn Babies

I would like more clear guidelines on how to stay safe with a newborn baby. I have been advised self isolate with my son for 1 month. However, i would like guidlines after this for when lockdown is potential relaxed. Should we still isolate or would it be safe to go out to the shops for example or see certain members of my family.

Why the contribution is important

I would also like to see clear guidance on how to protect a newborn during the pandemic. I'm due to have my baby any day now and there doesn't appear to be any official guidance for new parents. If we're to continue to follow the social distancing rules it means that I won't be able to properly introduce my baby to anyone outside of our home. I'm more than happy to do that if necessary and I understand and agree with the reasons behind it. Official government guidance would help us new parents set out the rules to our extended family and help them to understand the importance of adhering to the rules. Thanks.

It would also be good to get guidance on whether our partners should self isolate for the same amount of time to protect the newborn. Will they be able to have paid leave from work if having to work away from the home? Also, whether we should take siblings out of childcare (if they start back that is) for a self isolation period too.

Our newborn is due in the next few days and we've had extremely conflicting advice as regards self-isolating.

One midwife told us we needed to self-isolate FOR A FURTHER 12 weeks from newborn's date of birth, and another health worker has told us it won't be necessary whatsoever!

    Clarity please...
