Why the contribution is important

Although we are getting on with the job. It would be nice to know that there was some kind of reward in this very difficult time to look forward to

That’s not much to ask.
How about a substantial pay rise for nurses?
You can’t eat applause or fly pasts.

Definitely pay rise for the particular members of the NHS staff who are currently vastly undervalued and underpaid

Social care workers also need a pay rise which reflects their value to society and the acutely important contribution they are making just now...at risk of such personal sacrifice

I agree. All essential but low paid workers need a big pay rise.
Hope we re evaluate the worth of different professions according to what they contribute to society.
