No building on green belt

Having witnessed children stuck up high rise flats unable to enjoy gardens etc now more than ever we must save our green belt and not allow the new build builders to rush through planning applications in the name of ‘saving / kickstarting the economy from the Corona Virus.’. We don’t need new houses we need lands turned to crops etc. We need children to visit the countryside from the cities. We need to save our green belt.

Why the contribution is important

Wellbeing, mental health, children’s natural environment

Having children stuck in a high rise during this sounds a VERY good argument for building more LOW rise housing.

If this has shown us one thing it's the benefits of outdoor space accessible to all without needing access to transport - even when it is permitted to drive again there are still people who don't have this option who would benefit from greenspace within walking distance

The whole planning process needs to be reviewed.

The green belt should be sacrosanct for amenity/recreational/general environmental value. The current pandemic will change shopping patterns and may further change town/city centres leading to more sites becoming available for housing and this should be affordable housing to bring people back into town as owner occupiers not buy to rent/airbnb developments. Whatever shape we are in when we have learned to control this virus let's not rush to build more spec built houses on green field sites.
