No Overnight Stays, return home every night

During the earlier stages of lifting lockdown it will be important to minimise mass recreational travel. Rather than distance limitations from your home, the stipulation that you must return to your main home every night would seem like a clear and enforceable rule. No Hotels, B&B, holiday homes, camping, caravaning or sleeping in your car.

Why the contribution is important

This will prevent mass migrations across the UK, also limiting the total number of person to person contacts to buy fuel & provisions etc

This is a wise decision with summer approaching.

how do you get the economy moving then ? let folks with confirmed bookings travel, hotels are implementing new measures
return home also bad for the environment, more petrol etc - maybe good if you own shares in BP or Shell though

    Good idea.

Spending time outside creates minimal risk, especially in the Scottish countryside.

Restrictions must be proportionate to the benefit they deliver, and it is already acknowledged that the outdoors presents far less risk. Whatever risk there is must further reduce if people are able to leave crowded towns and cities to benefit from the beautiful open space in Scotland.

What about those who have family and loved ones that live outside of Scotland? We may be a nation that have our own laws and guidance, but we have an open border between Scotland and England, meaning many have family and loved ones living across the entirety of the UK. This needs to be taken into consideration.

Agree with the above comment by scotm9490. It's one reason why I believe it's essential to have a UK-wide policy. My daughter's wedding is booked for August in Hampshire, where she lives. I can envisage a situation in which we would be allowed to see family close by, but not to travel to England and stay overnight to enjoy the same privilege.

Think in the first stages of easing the lockdown this would be a good idea

A blanket ban on overnight stays to avoid further travel impacts on those who would need to stay overnight in less selfish circumstances. For instance, carers, night work staff and plenty others. Also, let's not include camping or caravanning as a risky venture, as both can function without socialising.

This is an excellent suggestion. Something that is easy for everyone to understand but also allows people to use their own judgement in terms of how far to travel.
