Open golf ranges

While many have requested golf courses should reopen and I completely agree with this, on a personal level I also think golf ranges should be able to open providing they can ensure safe social distancing. This is unlikely to be too difficult considering they are all outside and each bay most likely measures 2m or more. In addition I don't see why 1 - 1 lessons should not be made available, again providing social distancing and common sense is used.
As someone who loves golf but struggles to get round a course my weekly enjoyment of some fresh air, hitting a few balls at the range and relieving stress has been for years what has kept me sane. I have only been out once in 6 weeks and went to B & Q which was the equivalent to sardines in a can, if this can be deemed safe then surely a visit to a golf range is safer?

Why the contribution is important

For the following reasons:
1) Social distancing should be easy to enforce by clubs
2) Mental health and wellbeing benefits to those who cant get round a course but enjoy outside leisure
3) Obvious exercise benefits with added bonus of being outdoor

Yes, if this leads to a reduction in the number of golfers I'm all for it

I would support opening up of golf courses if this was to general public for the purpose of walking and social distancing, but NOT for golf.

All that area should be shared for the benefit of the wider population now and in the future, not merely reserved for a small number of wealthy people who can afford golf club memberships.

Opening golf courses to a small number of people hitting a ball about means there is less open space for others who would like to enjoy a walk outside without the risk of golf ball injury.
