Open Public toilets!

Open public toilets, this will allow those going for their daily exercise to at least relieve themselves and not resort to breaking the law and doing in bushes or alleyways. Plus, opportunities to wash your hands as well.

Why the contribution is important

So the public can relieve themselves and also enjoy their daily exercise without resorting to illegal urinating in public.
The public can also wash their hands, another plus!.

A good idea but costs, vandalism, etc are what got many closed before.

Just as importantly to consider is that people travel from very rural areas to the cities with test samples, equipment, foodstuffs etc and back again without access to any toilet facilities.
My trip to the city is an 8 hour + round trip.
This idea should be considered not so much in the city during travel restrictions but certainly in rural areas now.
    Thanks

Completely agree. Plenty of people have medical conditions needing these facilities to exercise outdoors.

Absolutely agree this is just so important. Those of us who don't have cars/cycles and have complied with not using public transport have been stuck in a very limited radius... increase in availability of and re-opening of public toilets would most certainly allow more females to venture further afield.

Bad idea. No possibility if keeping them clean enough.

Don't agree with this think its one of the worst places anyone could go during the lock down if your only supposed to be out for an hours exercise go to the loo before & take some sanitiser out with you even better than washing hands.

As we "all" should wash our hands after using, this should not be a problem. They are also very important for delivery drivers

It's an accessibility issue as well that disproportionately affects people with certain health conditions and disabilities. With most businesses being closed, people who are unable to go long periods of time without going to the bathroom (who would usually have nipped in to the pub/café/sports centre etc.) are restricted to their homes even more.

Invest in healthier accessible public toilets.

I'd say no as how can someone socially distance themselves.

Not just travel to cities for rural people. It takes 40 mins to get to our rural co-op, then at least the same to shop (sometimes for multiple housholds being supported), then 40 mins back , plus deliver shopping. No public toilets, no cafes etc open to use theirs.

Disagree with this. We are all hoping this would go away soon - The government should use stricter lockdown rules and *if* people actually followed it ...this whole thing could be over in 2 months (obviously opening slowly)....look at other countries who are opening up now.

Would you want to clean those toilets during a pandemic....would you want your mother, father or your son/daughter's to clean them? i don't want to see anyone putting themselves at risk, just so people can enjoy a longer/better walk.

Very good idea! If done correctly we have to consider the key workers and delivery people need to use them and it disgraceful that people especially men seem to think its ok to relieve themselves int he bushes! Not everyone can wait longer than 30mins to go to the loo and this presents a problem ! Everyone has a fundamental right to use the loo! Time for communities to step up and organise a cleaning rota perhaps! If possible! I feel the people against this are the probably the younger generation under 65!

This is vital for people to be able to be out and about to whatever extent is allowed. For many people, the shutdown of public toilets means that we can only be 5 minutes from our home. This is especially vital for women.

Good point - I agree - even the ones in town centres/shopping areas are closed now! (but are there any rural ones left?...….)

Re-opening public toilets must be the first facilities to be re-opened as we ease out of lockdown, some of us will be out and about bit more and need these important public facilities. Social distancing can be achieved by blocking off every second sink and urinal to keep people apart, as a much smaller proportion of the population will on the move the reduction in appliances should not cause any issues.

Agree public toilets should be open with steps taken to minimise the risk of spread of infection
